Born to a career military family (U.S. Dept. of Defense) at Lajes Airfield, Azores, Portugal on December 12, 1958, Donald C. Tabor lived in Europe and the Middle East throughout his formative years. Since settling in Toccoa in 1985, Don has been involved in numerous civic and professional organization, including: Stephens County Bar Association, President; Toccoa Little League, President and Coach; Confidence United Methodist Church, Director, Board of Trustees and Director of Finance; Stephens County Middle School, Mentor; Stephens County Athletics Booster Club; and Toccoa Masonic Lodge; Toccoa E. R. Charitable Foundation, Inc., Board Member, to name but a few.
Don is married to Connie Tabor, his wife of 27 years and is the father of two children, Corey and Sarah. In addition to his many duties and responsibilities involving the general practice of law, Don also serves as City Attorney for the Town of Martin, Georgia and as Chief Magistrate Judge for Stephens County.
Born July 27, 1953, Dale grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia where he graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1971. After graduation, he attended Middle Georgia College, where he received his Associate of Arts in Political Science in 1974. From there he went on to the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he received a PhD in Political Science in 1984 and a JD in Law in 1985.
Following graduation from Law School in 1985, Dale located to Toccoa where he became an Associate with a local law firm. In 1988, he left “the firm”, established his own law office and ran for the post of chief Magistrate of Stephens County. Dale was elected the first Republican candidate ever elected to public office in Stephens County, a position which was designated a non-partisan office in 1991 and one to which he was re-elected six times.
While living in Toccoa, he was a member and officer in various local organizations including but not limited to: Toccoa Jaycees, President; Stephens County Bar Association, President; BPOE, Chaplain; Cub Scout Pack 168, Cubmaster; Toccoa Rehabilitation Industries, Board of Directors, Treasure; Toccoa Masonic Orders and an active member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church; Northeast Georgia Goat Producers, Inc., President; Tocca E.R. Charitable Foundation, Inc., President.
Dale passed away March 10, 2012 and is survived by his mother, Betty Smith, wife, Lynne Smith, and a son, Jared C. Smith.
A native of Toccoa, Lynne Matheson has been with Smith & Tabor since 2002 as office manager and general assistant to the attorneys.
Previous positions in the medical field have prepared her to assist the firm in contacts with the offices of medical providers in matters where a personal injury has occurred.
She has lived in and around the area all her life. She has a love for the area and the people in the community. Lynne is currently a member of the board of directors of Neighbors 4 Neighbors, Inc., a local food pantry serving the needy in Stephens County, and is a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church.
She has two daughters and three granddaughters and, until his passing in March 2012, was married to Dale P. Smith, the founder of Smith & Tabor.
Geera T. Robinson, born in North Carolina to military parents, spent her younger years in Gwinnett County, moving to the Toccoa/Stephens County area in 1993.
With a history of work in customer service and as a Project Coordinator, Geera brings various professional attributes to Smith & Tabor.
She enjoys camping with her two children and three grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes are reading and the beach.
